OK ok so If you are my roommate Matice, do not read past this point. If she knew i was talking once more about my currently favorite show, she'd roll her big blue eyes so far back that I don't think they would come back. Yes, I have a new obsession! "This American Life" the Radio/ Television show that tells the stories of people all around the country. This show is just amazing, I love everything about it. But let me tell you how this show caught my attention. Im off track so naturally I only work and then come home and play, its just the rule of life hahaha, but anyway one day i decided to come home and watch a little TV. I turned on my Netflix machine and browsed through the shows and movies finding something that was at least captivating my attention a bit. I decided to settle for the show with a poster/cover that had a man that looked like he was in his late 40 standing in a field covered by snow and a clear blue sky behind him. The cover read "Funny. Dramatic. Surprising. True This American Life A New Series of Real-Life Stories" It seemed to be an adequate choice for the night so i started with episode 1: Reality Check. I was immediately captivated by the inspiring and amazing story i was hearing, a elderly home was feeling down and so they decided to make a film that they wrote, directed, and produced. They would be all elderly actors and they would submit it to the Sundance Film Festival. I don't know why this caught my attention so much, when i noticed, it was 4am and i had finished all of season 1. I began to want more and more, I finished season 2 quickly after that and saw captivating stories like the men that made a rope out of dental floss which they used to escape from jail, or the boy who said he didn't believe in Love... Literally. I sat and watched countless hours, I think what i loved about this show was the fact that i was able to have a little glimpse into the thoughts a person had or the emotions they must have felt. I was ready for season 3, but then i quickly realized... it had ended. Netflix didn't have a season 3! I did a little research and found out that the show had been cancelled. WHAT! I was angry, nervous, sad, and a lot of other feelings i can't explain. It had ended. Thankfully the show is based on a radio show that Ira Glass (that's the guy that narrates these) started in 1995. So now ive given myself a new task--- listen to all his shows. They are an hour long and there must be more then 400, but I'm excited. I hope that not to late in my life, i will be able to submit my own story, for all of the country to hear. I first need something interesting, anything that will captivate Ira Glass' attention and that he will say "this girl is worth a story". I want whoever is reading this, to look for the show, give a chance, listen to a few because some are not as interesting as others, but i warn you.... YOU WILL BECOME ADDICTED! :)
